There are many temples in and around Pune city. But this temple dedicated to lord Ganesh is everyone’s favourite. The temple is located in old part of Pune called Budhwar Peth. The temple is more than 120 years old and was built by a sweet maker named Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai and his wife when they lost their Son to plague. The temple acted as a healer to them and the folks of Pune city.
Main advantage of the temple is that you can take Darshan from the road itself. Many walkers take Darshan from outside temple itself. If people on vehicles managed to stop in that crowded place then they also stop for a second and take Darshan from their vehicle itself and move ahead. The idol is very graceful and adorned with precious gold and jewellery. The trust is also one of the richest in Maharashtra.
Main festival is Ganesh Utsav which is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. This temple forms part of 5 important Ganesh idol during that period.
Phones and cameras are not allowed inside the temple. The surrounding area is very congested and there is no parking facility for the temple. One has to use nearby public parking places and come to the temple.
Happy traveling!!!
