A small but very famous village around 30Kms from Pune. It is situated on the Triveni sangam of three rivers- Bhima, Bhama and Indrayani. The place is so beautiful but due to the dreadful acts done in history, the atmosphere is filled with sadness. The place witnessed one of the most barbaric and sad events in the history. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was brutally executed here by Aurangzeb. The complete story is mentioned on a rock here and will surely give you goosebumps. There is a arch built where he was executed.
There is samadhi of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj where people come to pay tribute to their hero and one of the greatest Maratha warrior.
There is beautiful Sangameshwar temple dedicated to lord Shiva nearby. The confluence of three rivers is a beautiful scene to witness. One can go knee deep in the water of Triveni Sangam and can sit on the steps built there to relax. The surrounding atmosphere is very calm and serene.
There is parking place available for 2 and 4 wheelers. Not much food options available except few local snacks. A place to experience the sad part of history and still enjoy the beautiful nature.
Happy traveling!!!
